Mary Orvis Marbury Flies

Mary Orvis Marbury, daughter of Charles F. Orvis, compiled the first definitive book of fly patterns in 1892, Favorite Flies and Their Histories. Marbury's contribution is unmatched during this era and is considered an important milestone. These five ornate wet flies were tied personally by Orvis Marbury, each with numbered identification tags which correspond to the fly plates in her book. All are in very good to excellent condition. These examples were previously sold in Lang's Nov. 2003 auction.
