G.E.M. Skues (1858-1949), a lauded author on the subject, is credited with the invention of fly fishing with the artificial nymph. Skues fished from boyhood until he was 87, and became an expert in every aspect of fly fishing including entomology, fly dressing, fly patterns, and fly fishing techniques, methods and tactics. This little fly, tied by Skues, is in excellent condition, and comes with a letter of provenance from the previous owner, stating it was sold from the Thomas Clegg collection. Flies by this historically important early tier are rarely offered for sale.
