Early Primitive Creel

Sign In to see what this sold for

Large watermelon shaped creel features a hand carved "trap door" type lid with leather hinges and a thick doweled through top wood brace with simple leather strap. Basketry is of thick uncleaned willow. Appears to be mid to late 1800's, and is in good condition with leather wear and worm holes to the wood. Typical of the "country" pheasant made utilitarian creels of Europe.
