Zwarg Model 400 Salmon Fly Reel

Otto Zwarg - Maker - Brooklyn, N.Y. Marked Model 400 German Silver and Hard Rubber Salmon Fly Reel. Designated the "Laurentian" by Zwarg, this 2:1 ratio multiplying salmon reel is a 3/0 size, with a 3 5/8" diameter and 1 7/8" wide spool, with a weight of 12 1/4 ounces. With German silver rims, handle nut and pillars and aluminum handle, foot and spool, this reel is also equipped with an adjustable drag on the tail plate, as well as a sliding click switch. The roller pillars are oversized, with the remaining pillars standard shouldered the screw heads are in excellent condition and show no signs of use, with only superficial marks on the foot ends from having been mounted on a rod. In excellent minus condition, set for right hand wind, and complete with leather reel case in good condition (broken strap).
