G. Ritter - New York Marked Wooden Trolling Reel. A scarce trolling reel from maker Gustav Ritter of New York, NY, granted patent number 342,844 on June 1st, 1886 for his improvements in fishing reels. This example is 5 3/4" in diameter with twin bulbous handle grasps and brass handle plate, marked "G. Ritter - New York - Pat'd 1886 - 1109". In excellent minus condition with no splits to the wood and full reel foot.
