Original John Swan Mirimichi River Watercolor. John Swan (1948-present), is a respected sporting artist and native of Portland Maine. With formal training in the arts from the University of New Hampshire, Swan's works have been shown throughout New England. This piece, titled "Russell's Rapids Mirimichi River" was commissioned in 1987, the same year Swan received the Duck's Unlimited International Artist of the Year Award. The painting was executed on paper in Swan's noted style. Two fisherman test their luck on an overcast day amid the current of the river. Nice attention to detail on the back tree line, intersected by the charm of a country estate. Swan's ever growing popularity make his original works highly sought by investors and appreciators of sporting art. Watercolor itself measures 29 1/2" x 16", professionally matted within a 38 1/2" x 25" frame. Excellent condition, signed by the artist in lower right as well as multiple times on reverse. Back of frame also contains a sheet of biographical information listing Swan's many accolades.
