Original Burke Duck Painting

Edgar Burke, MD (1889-1950) a physician of great standing, but also a skilled angler, lauded fly tier, and avid upland gunner. He was also a celebrated artist, specializing in gouache/watercolor depicting game birds and duck decoys. He illustrated two Derrydale Press books, Feathered Game (1929) and Upland Game Bird Shooting in America (1930), and produced cover art for seven others, including Grouse Feathers, and De Shootinest Gent'man. Measuring 7 3/4" x 6 1/4", and coming in the 15" x 12 3/4" original frame, Burke's Mallards in Flight represents one of his favorite subjects. In excellent condition, unsigned, dated Mar 23, 193? on the reverse.
