A.D. Turner is credited with the development of sporting art in America in the late 1800's into the early 20th century. Turner's chromolithographs of fish made after his watercolors are among the most impressive of this time period. Circa 1901 chromolithograph, produced by Sackett & Wilhelm's Lith. & Ptg. Co., taken from Forest, Lake and River: The Fishes of New England and Eastern Canada. Measuring 17 1/2" x 27 3/4", mounted on artist board, exhibiting water damage and edge loss. This piece is quite rare as it is one of the very few which prominently exhibits a rod and reel. With original title label still intact on the reverse The Sunapee Trout in November Coloring.
