Rare Early Hawks & Ogilvy Advertising Sign

Large 28" x 20 1/2" poster, from the renowned New York fishing tackle retailer, established in 1871. Framed for preservation, fragile store display is in very good condition, with a 2" section of paper loss in white on the left side, light water staining on two edge areas, and warping. Poster looks to be from the late 1800's but is undated. The caricature, of an angler with rod and beach paraphernalia, is thought to be a likeness of Mr. Ogilvy. To our knowledge, no other example currently exists. An extremely rare and desirable early advertising poster.
