A significant piece of Zane Grey history. The red and blue colors represent Grey's alma mater the University of Pennsylvania. Most likely flown from The Fisherman, but may have accompanied different ZG owned vessels as he often transported flags with him as he traveled. Hand written next to the grommet is Yacht - 2 1/2' x 4'. In better condition than most Zane Grey flags found, with light red bleed through in the white from being stored wet after use, which was common with these larger flags, and a few small holes. This and all items included in this historic find come with a letter of provenance stating this flag came directly from Zane Grey's personal steamer trunk #44, which accompanied him on his 1939 trip to Australia. Only a few of Grey's pennants have been found to date, each being a truly important and extremely rare piece.
