Needlework Sampler, "sarah hamblet, was bOrn in Swanzey, new Hampshire June The 16 Ye 1787," long rectangular sampler worked in silk threads on a linen ground, with rows of alphabets above her statistics, (toning, fading), 5 5/8 x 21 1/2 in., unframed.

Note: See The History of Swanzey, New Hampshire, from 1734 to 1890, by Benjamin Read, published by the Salem Press, Salem, Massachusetts, 1892, p. 355. Sarah was the first child of eight born to Phinehas and Rachael Hamblet. Sarah married Jacob Ware of Winchester, New Hampshire.
