Vinca Culture animal bowl, c.5th Millenium BC

A reddish brown pottery partial bowl in the form of an animal, Balkans, Vinca Culture, c.5th Millenium BC. The incised eyes are almond-shaped with deep lines decorating the neck and body. Some of the incised lines have retained their original white inlay material. H: 4 5/8" (11.8cm). Ex. M. M. collection, Belgrade, acquired in the 1960's; Ex. Royal Athena Gallery, New York. Very rare!
