A lamp with execution in the circus, Roman North Africa, 1st - 2nd Century AD. Mouldmade terracotta lamp with remains of brown slip. Within the discus is a depiction of an execution in the circus (damnation ad bestias). A panther leaps right, looking back, over a prone figure laying below. L: 4" (10.2 cm). Ex German collection; Ex. Royal Athena Gallery, New York.
