Roman North Africa, oil lamp with bust of Mercury

A lamp with the bust of Mercury, Roman North Africa, 4th - 5th Century AD. Redware terracotta lamp, mouldmade, with bust of Mercury (Hermes) within the discus. There is a channel running between disc and nozzle, edges by ridges. Shoulder decorated with palm frond design, raised circular base. L: 4 ¾" (12.1cm). Pohl 1-3; Ex. English Private collection; Ex.
