An attractive red ware oil lamp, Roman North Africa, 4th - 5th Century AD. Red-ware terracotta lamp, mould made, with flat disc adorned with a rosette. Shoulder decorated with angled ridges. Base consists palm design within concentric circles, a large branch at the bottom of the nozzle. L: 4 ¾" (12.1cm). Pohl 1-3; Ex. English Private collection; Ex. Royal Athena Galleries, New York. A more unusual type!
