A mould-blown pale green square glass jug, Eastern Mediterranean, 1st - 2nd Century AD, with ribbon handle, tubular neck and flared rim. H: 4 ½" (11.5 cm). Intact, top of handle with minor loss. Cf. Yale, p. 33, no. 94 for the type. Nice iridescence.
Square bottles were one of the more common storage bottles for shipping throughout the Roman Empire. The flat sides and base made packing and shipping much easier and avoided breakage. Condition reportSee item description.
