A gruesome human skull vessel, Peru, Nazca, c. AD 600 - 700. This Huari influenced effigy is depicted with deep eye sockets and retains traces of serpents on the back of the head. A rare example with a fire-blackened base. H: 5 ¼". See Morris The Inka Empire, page 122, for similar from the American Museum of Natural History. Ex Los Angeles collection.
