The work of art is in good condition. Signed "Birge Harrison" lower right recto. Light surface dirt. Canvas appears to have been re-stretched in the distant past, possibly cut down from the original dimensions: examination under black light and under raking fluorescent light shows some thicker pigment on the edges, down the centerline of the canvas from the top to the center, and particularly in the center of the canvas in an area about 1 inch in diameter; this pigment does not fluoresce, so it is assumed to be part of the artist’s process. This painting is signed in the left lower corner and the signature matches documented signatures by the artist. This painting comes to auction as part of a Philadelphia estate. We have no additional information or documentation. Please not we are not authenticators.
