Leslie Oliphant Back Them Up! , original poster printed by Thos. Forman & Sons Ltd - 76 x 51 cm Soldiers of the new Parachute Regiment emerge from their glider, straight into action against the visible German forces. The soldiers are wearing the now-distinctive maroon beret of the Parachute Regiment, not introduced until 1942, leading to the German troops naming them the Rote Teufel (Red Devils). This design was used in the 'Back Them Up!' series, with the accompanying text: 'Britain's New Airborne Army goes into action in Europe', It is extremely unlikely that these troops would have flown into action in their berets or would have had time to change into them from their helmets before going into action.
