AFTER BERNARDO BELLOTTO, OIL ON CANVAS LAID DOWN, 28 1/2" X 48", "MARKET SQUARE AT PIRNA":Unsigned; laid down on masonite; original gilt frame. The original, from which this copy was painted, was sold at Christies, January 24, 2003, sale #1194. This copy (before it was laid down) was rolled up and supposedly smuggled out of East Germany to West Germany and then to the US by the consignor's family.

OIL ON CANVAS LAID DOWN ON MASONITE. Rf, 8-18-2009 As viewed under UV light in the unopened frame: blacklights clean; has a very small nick in the paint in the lower center and a very small nick in the upper center (sky) both of which fluoresce under UV light; faint remnants of craquelure; a few miniscule size paint nicks in the LR; antique gilt frame has a few chips and cracks.
