IN THE MANNER OF JEAN-BAPTISTE CAMILLE COROT, OIL ON CANVAS, C. 1870-1890, LANDSCAPE:Serene image depicts a partially wooded area that also is filled with tall grass, a small body of water at the foreground and a single figure in the midground, all is centered by a burst of sunlight at the midground. No apparent signature. The verso reveals smudged writing, in blue ink, on the lower stretcher along with a date (either 1870 or 1890). The painting is housed within a gilt frame.

Some craquelure evident. There are also a couple of very minor spots where the canvas shows (where some paint has flaked off) that are revealed under black light. The frame shows a few small losses-one along the left side and some slight damage at the corners. RG
