8vo, original decorative cloth-backed boards, unclipped dust jacket, top edge stained red, blue endpapers. First edition, first printing, with authors' names listed alphabetically and note about the authors to final page dated August 1961. Inscribed by both Julia Child and Simone Beck to the f.f.e.p. to Pauline Cunningham of Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Wear to dust jacket with loss to top and bottom edges and repaired tears to the spine beneath mylar jacket; dampstaining and warping to the first third of the text, showing signs of repeated use; otherwise fine and very rare with both inscriptions.
