Note: Enrico Fermi, Nobel Prize winner for Physics in 1938, successfully investigated quantum theory, atomic structure and the mathematical nature of matter. He was also part of the team at Columbia University that created the first nuclear fission experiment and was later part of the Manhattan Project.
