Lee, Richard Henry (1732-1794), Signer from Virginia, Manuscript document signed, January 4, 1786, two pages, a true copy of a letter from John Adams when he was serving as Envoy to Great Britain, discussing Adams' meetings with the Archbishop of Canterbury and relating the Archbishop's reaction to a letter sent by Lee to him and commenting at great length about religious freedoms in the new United States and Adams' subsequent discourse on religious matters in America, 4to, (two small tears along folds, some burn through of ink).
