MAJOR GENERAL PERSONS LOT W/ EISENHOWER SIGNATURE To include: 2 press photographs of Persons, one in a motorcade and the other with President Eisenhower. Persons Identity card for SHAPE, Official White House envelope addressed to him together with a letter signed by Dwight D. Eisenhower signed in 1960, expressing the Presidents strong regard for Persons. Wilton Burton "Jerry" Persons (1896 – 1977) served as the White House Chief of Staff to President Dwight D. Eisenhower from 1958 until 1961. Persons was a career Army officer who advanced through the ranks to major general in 1944. He served in both the AEF in WWI and WWII. He retired in 1949. Persons was called back to active duty as a special assistant to General Dwight D. Eisenhower at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers in Europe (SHAPE) from 1951-1952 and was active on behalf of Eisenhower's presidential campaign in 1952. He became a deputy assistant to the president in 1953 and then was made an assistant to the president in 1958. He served throughout the Eisenhower presidency. EST. $600 - 1500
