RARE EARLY EDO JAPANESE KUNIKANE II KATANA A very fine and rare antique investment grade Edo period, 1600-1868, Kunikane II katana. The signature has been expertly verified and authenticated in the Toko Taikan. Katana is in WWII Gunto mounts. Kunikane II is ranked, "Saijo O-wazamono" (best cutting swords). There is a very slight bend to blade and two small dents to Saya. The tip of the sword has a 1mm break, which will restore naturally on completion of final polish. This blade is in 90% full Japanese polish condition and requires further very light polish to be perfect. Shape: Shinogizukuri iorimune, Nagasa: 68.2cm, Sori: 1.8cm, Moto-haba: 3cm, Saki-haba 2:15cm, Kitae: Masame-hada tsumi, ji-nie tsuka, Hamon: Hirosuha-chou ni asaku notare, gunome majiri, Boshi: Sugu ni komaru saki hakikakeru, Nakago: Ubu, Sakikurijiri, Yasurime Sujichigai, Mekugiana x 1. Jihada lines are exemplary. The sword has no current papers.
