A TUNISIAN, OUDREF SADDLE BLANKET, 20th Century, wool, cotton, and leather. This saddle blanket (bost), was made in Ouref, an oasis near the Tunisian city of Gabes, In contrast to Moroccan saddle covers, which are draped over the horse for decorative and ceremonial purposes, this blanket would have e been used by the horseman as he rode, placed on the saddle with the two cut-outs fitting over the front and back pommels. 32 x 42 , with exhibition label and catalogue.
