Album of 44 photographs, each mounted with adhesive to boards (Album: 170 x 250 mm; each print 126 x 182 mm). Condition: some soiling, toning, and creasing, exposed adhesive; wear to album exterior, rear board detached. Provenance: C. E. Campbell (ownership signature) An album of photographs assembled as the British took control of Jerusalem in 1917, including a possibly unpublished photograph of commander-in-chief allenby entering jerusalem on foot through the jaffa gate, the reading of the proclamtion of martial law, and the conference at gaza. Other photographs depict German and Austrian activity, including a picture of Erich von Falkenhayn riding in a motor car with Ahmed Djmel Pasha, the head of the Turkish Fourth Army on the Palestine front.ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
