London: William Curtis, 1793-1796. First 2 volumes bound in 1. 8vo (235 x 150 mm). 72 hand colored plates. Later full dark green leather, gilt florettes to boards, spine and turn-ins. Condition: occasional light spotting and offsetting, stain at bottom edge (not affecting pages). Provenance: Lady Harriet Mitchell and John Layton Mitchell (ownership signatures to front endpaper). First edition printed by Stephen Couchman. The Botanical Magazine has been published continuously since Curtis founded it in 1787.
