Condition: previous owners name written on title page, scattered foxing; paste paper very worn with pieces missing from top and bottom boards and the spine. Abraham Bosse is considered one of the most popular book illustrators of the Baroque period. Bosse studied in Paris. He apprenticed with Melchoir Tavernier. He later became a teacher of perspective in the Academie royale. About 1,600 works of various kinds are attributed to him including 1,400 engravings.
