VEGA, Garcilasso de la Histoire des Guerres Civiles des Espagnols dans les Indes... Paris: Simeon Piget, 1658. 2 volumes, large 8vo (235 x 180 mm). Recently rebound to style in quarter calf over marbled paper boards, red morocco gilt lettering labels to spines, speckled edges. Condition: lacking frontispiece; occasional minor browning and foxing. Provenance: Meroantile Library (hand stamp to title pages). Garcilasso de la Vega, the Inca, was born to a conquistdor and an Incan princess in 1539. He was in a unique position to write the history of the Incas as he had the trust of both the Incas and the Spanish. He also spoke both languages fluently.
