Glasgow: Printed by Robert and Andrew Foulis for Edward and and Charles Dilly, 1768. Engraved title, large folding map. Contemporary calf, rebacked to style, housed in a custom morocco backed slipcase. Condition: map re-attached with very short closed tear at mounting, darkening to pastedowns with slight offset to endpapers and title. Provenance: Presentation copy "To Sir George Preston of Valleyfield Baronet as a mark of real regard from James Boswell"; J. A. Maconochie (bookplate); Edward Cheney (bookplate); James Fraser Gluck (bookplate); Roger H. West (bookplate); Paul Jordon Smith (bookplate). first edition, presentation copy from boswell to the scottish baronet george preston. Pottle 24; Rothschild 442; Foulis 473.
