San Francisco: City Lights Pocket Bookshop, [1956]. Small 4to (155 x 120 mm). Original black wrappers with white wrap-around band printed in black.. Condition: foxing to band and edges. "i saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness"; the first printing of ginsberg's masterpiece beat poem. The first printing contains the dedication to Lucian Carr removed in later printings, the rear wrapper has 20 lines of text with the period instead of a comma at line 18, and the price on the rear wrapper reading "75 cents".
