Condition: lacking ads, 1/4 inch repair to upper margin of title page, minor soft creasing to several corners, else a clean handsome copy. first edition. First edition in book form of the most famous 19th century american poem. The present was originally issued bound in either wraps or cloth and half calf as Wiley and Putnam's Library of American Books No. VIII. Later issued bound together with Tales, published the same year, making perhaps the most potent and influential combination of titles published by one author qithin such a short time frame.
