D-39 WWI Austrian commemorative dagger. A period-made piece with an 8-sided white metal grip and round ball finial. Brass cross guard with turned in quillons and a "half-circle" langet - engraved "STOCHOD 1917" (The Stochod River was considered the line dividing Imperial Austrian and Russian forces between 1915 and 1916.) Russian type scabbard made from a cut-down Austrian scabbard, with a Russian style throat (with affixed initials "FS") and tip. An interesting period-made soldier's dagger - using the materials at hand, and incorporating the design of a medieval type hilt. 9 1/4" bayonet blade is gray and shows some wear. An untouched piece. Condition II $350.00
