F-135 - Polish formal dress "Court" frock coat. Blue wool material with a high standup collar and a hook/eyelet fastening system. The entire coat is covered with a 1 1/8" silver bullion "tress" bearing a crowned Polish eagle within a red shield. A double vertical row extends around the collar and down each side of the front of the coat, around the shoulders, as a type of horizontal "frogging", down the inside and outside seams of the arms, two rows with extended "shields" on each cuff, outlining the entire back and "skirt" and six 9" vertical rows to form a simulated pocket with "curtains" on each side of the "skirt". Black silk type lining with silk lined sleeves. Shows some wear. The front is further embellished with seven (one missing) domed silver buttons. (In his book "MILITARY FASHION" John Mollo mentioned the Austrian Government trying to incorporate Polish nobility and the military into the Austrian Royal Court. The above coat probably represents a pattern designed for official functions. Circa 1900-1910. Rare. II.....$500.00
