G-5 - Glazed faience Mettlach stein presented by the Boston Athletic Association as a sporting event prize. Tapered body with an intricate floral pattern design. Three small white shields on a blue oval surrounded by wreaths/garlands/two panels with a crowned rose/etc. Baroque type pewter lid engraved - "B.A.A. - Dec. 12, 96 - First Prize - Three Standing Jumps". Pewter "twisted onion" thumb-lift. Floral decorated handle. (Also awarded to F. J. Young). Bottom marked with pattern number "5013" and dated "96". Also a blue stamping "965 GESCHUTZT" and faint green castle/"METTLACH". Excellent. I.....$500.00
