S-13 - Autographed photo of 4-star Gen. Mark E. Clark. 8 1/4" x 6 5/8" of subject seated at his desk. Far East Command shoulder patch would indicate the Korean period when photo was taken. (Clark was wounded in WWI while serving with the U.S. 11th Infantry. During WWII he served as Deputy Commander for Operation Torch and landed by submarine, before the invasion, to negotiate with the Vichy French. His career during the Italian Campaign remains controversial as he was more interested in being the first to enter Rome rather than exploiting a gap in the Gothic Line. He took over as Commander of United Nations Forces in Korea on May 12, 1952 and signed the cease fire with North Korea in 1953. After retiring from the Army, Clark served as President of the Citadel and wrote two volumes of his memoirs.) Matted in a dull gold/wood frame. 15 3/4" x 12 3/4". II.....$175.00
