S-23 - Historical photo album representing the Army Service of Captain Allan J. Kennedy in China during the 1920's. An exceptional visual presentation of the Chinese customs, architecture, economy and culture as well as a view of the occupying armies who stayed in China after the Boxer Rebellion. All photos are identified in white ink and include the American Army on parade, visits from the Chinese, British, Italian, French, and Japanese military officers; an unusual presentation of different views of the "Forbidden City" in Peking, traditional methods of transportation, the Great Wall of China and views of the city life that are seldom seen. Of special interest are 4 3/5" x 6 5/8" photos of the multi-National forces Memorial Service for Marshall Foch, an 8 5/8" x 10 7/8" portrait of the U.S. 15th Infantry Regiment's officers - 8 are named including Lt. Col. Stilwell; and parade photos covering the departure of Col. Newell and arrival of Col. Taylor. Also included are a portrait of Captain Kennedy, a view of officers in Tientsin, China and an official matted photo of the 15th Infantry Regiment Band.
