S-45 - Lot of WWII Navy pilot James E. Brunzell's possessions. Includes: (1) G-1 leather flight jacket with a bearskin collar. Zipper front and satin lining with original cloth labels. Leather name tag and gilt USN wings. Shows some minor wear - in good supple condition. (2) Embroidered squadron patch - flying eagle/barrage balloons/ship on a blue inverted "arrowhead". Brunzell stated that he was not allowed to wear this patch, as capture would provide unit information to the enemy. (3) Signed photo of subject in a Corsair aircraft and a 1942 dated photo "In the Cockpit". (4) Gilt Navy pilot wings - clutch-back marked "…BALFOUR". (5) Two bullion embroidered wings - Gold and Silver. (6) Two embroidered enlisted Flight Student insignia. Scarce. (7) "U.S. NAVAL TRAINING STATION" tally. (8) Pair of officer shoulder boards. (9) "LOW-TIDE COUNTRY CLUB WAKE ISLAND" embroidered "patch". (10) Four embossed leather USN Wings/name tags - two gilt on black and two different silver on brown. (11) Lot of 5 embroidered Specialist/Rank insignia - three are pilots, two in bullion. (12) Cap badge, small belt buckle and grouping of various rank insignia and buttons. (13) Two pairs of M1944 USN flying goggles - with extra lenses and box. (14) Cloth pilot's helmet - with hard rubber earphone covers, MKII goggles and radio operator's headset with jack. (15) "Mae West" - with flashlight, whistle, survival knife, etc. (16) Two aviator's white silk scarfs. (17) "FLEET LOGISTIC AIR WING - US PACIFIC FLEET - CREW BAGGAGE" tag named to Brunzell, a member of Squadron "VR-2". (18) Miscellaneous: Training manuals, four plastic "plotters", photo of 1939 graduating class, sweatshirt, o'seas caps and gloves (soiled). A scarce, interesting Navy pilot grouping.
