Rare Parisian Fashion Plate by Bonfils 1920

Rare, limited-edition ladies' fashion plate BEAULIEU DANS LES FLEURS / Manteau et Robes d'apres-midi by French illustrator Robert Bonfils (1886-1972), linocut on paper; printed signature at lower right. From the renowned Parisian fashion journal La Gazette du Bon Ton, (which translates as The Magazine of Good Taste),1920. Bonfils was celebrated for his distinctive style and his commission to design a promotional poster for the 1925 Paris Exposition. La Gazette featured clothing designed by the best couturiers and depicted by the best illustrators working in Paris during the Art Deco period. La Gazette illustrations reflect the fine-art trends and movements of the period such as Cubism, Futurism, Orientalism, and abstract art.
