1880-1914. The Medlycott Estate, Portlaw, Co. Waterford. Collection of Estate Papers and Correspondence. The Medlycott estate comprised lands at Rocketts Castle & Killowen situated in the Barony of Upper Third and County of Waterford. This collection includes tenant records, correspondence, legal agreements, schedules, settlements, evictions, Irish Land Commission documents, receipts etc. etc. It appears that Rocketts Castle was originally referred to in a grant issued by King John to Sir Elias FitzNorman in 1199. It was apparently built before 1212. Its ruins are situated on a bend of the River Suir, near Portlaw.
