1916 (28 April) An Early and Rare Manuscript Military Permit to Travel to Dublin During the Rising. manuscript 22 by 9cm., 8.5 by 3.5in. "Permission is granted to Mr. W.G. Strickland to travel from Kingstown to Dublin. Signed G E Brown 2/Lt RFA for Capt. A.P.M." This is a very early permit, issued while fighting was still going on. It is possible this was issued to Walter G. Strickland, author of A Dictionary of Irish Artists , a standard reference work published in 1913.
