1923 (7 & 11 September) Irish Delegation to The League of Nations - letters from Hugh Kennedy, Attorney General – "Ireland takes her place among the Nations of the World". manuscript 23 by 18cm., 9 by 7in. Provenance: Hugh Kennedy; thence by descent 7.ix.1923 Kennedy writing to his wife from Geneva at Fourth League of Nations Assembly. 2pp on Saorstát Éireann notepaper specially printed for the League of Nations Assembly. We have aroused no small interest among the Nations here; 11.ix.1923: The enthusiasm for our little country amongst all the Nations represented here, the vigorous warmth of our reception has been overwhelming. The moment of reception by the great assembly baffles description. It was full of intense emotion for us – but that emotion was shared in the most thrilling way by the delegates of the world. Our story is widely known and they appeared to delight in the consummation of our freedom. I hope the Cinderella of the Nations won't break her glass slipper; League of Nations admission card to the assembly. In envelope marked in Kennedy's hand My card of admission to the Assembly (3 items)
