1928. Irish Free State - A Proof Set of The First Coinage, Farthing to Half Crown. The proof set comprises polished specimens from the first minting of the Free State Coinage: farthing, halfpenny and penny in bronze, threepence and sixpence in nickle, shilling, florin and halfcrown in silver, in a specially issued box, issued by the Currency Commission. The much acclaimed designs, by English artist, Percy Metcalf, were chosen by a Committee under the chairmanship of William Butler Yeats.
