1850. An Early photograph by Cranfield, Dublin, "Colonel Griffith who lived in Queen Anne's Reign". sepia print in an ornate gilt frame set in Morocco box gilt stamped "Cranfield, Dublin". 5 by 4cm., 2 by 1.5in. Provenance: Gore-Booth Family, Lisadell, Sligo; their sale, Mealy's, May 2002; whence purchased by the present owner. A manuscript inscription, circa 1840-50 by the style, reads: "Photograph of Colonel Griffith who lived in Queen Anne's reign. Original ought to be mine". Colonel Edward Griffith was one of the Clerks Comptrollers of the Greencloth and his wife, Elizabeth was the daughter of Dr. Thomas Laurence, the Physician to Queen Anne. His daughter, Anne, married the Duke of Dorset, Lord Lieutenant of Ireland.
