Louis XVI Style Bronze Mounted Carved Mahogany Curio Cabinet, c. 1870, labeled "R. J. Horner, Furniture Makers, 61, 63, 65 W. 23rd St., N. Y.," of breakfront form, with two raised pedestals with shallow frieze drawers above cupboards with wide beveled glazed doors and sides, flanking a setback central cupboard with a parquetry inlaid door, the whole on tapering bronze mounted reeded legs, H.- 51 3/4 in., W.- 40 in., D.- 15 in.
Condition reportThe bottoms of both top drawers have been removed to use as reflectors for the lights over the glass cupboards. There is one small hole drilled in the upper back of the piece for the lighting to be run in, not visible upon sight. Slight nick to the edge of the left door on the left hand side of the piece. There are 3 light lines aprox 1/4"w x 1" long running down the finish below the left hand door glass (possibly where water or a solvent lightened the piece).
The bronze mount on the right door bottom has slightly pulled out, but is not bent. Same to the to right of the bronze surrounding the parquetry panel. This is not noticable without pushing on the mounts.
There is a shrinkage crack to the top left panel on the top of the piece running front to back. There are 2 shrinkage cracks to the center one running right to left about terminating half way through the center, the other running left to right terminating about half way. There is also slight loss to the top right veneer about 1cm x 4".
The piece is in overall fine condition considering age. The parquestry is in outstanding condition. Please ask for additional pictures.
