John Sloan (1871-1951), "Up the Back Steps," early 20th c., watercolor and gouache, signed l.r., framed, H.- 14 in., W.- 14 1/2 in.

Condition report

Painting presented in an attractive gilt frame. Paper is slightly toned, consistent with age. Signature is faded, but clearly visible. The piece shows pencil lines and evidence of plans to add paint. Possibly unfinished.
