Cambodian Brass Khmer Dancing Apsaras Bell Statue

Khmer statue of an dancing Apsaras wearing a finely-decorated headdress and clothes, and poised on a circular base that also serves as a bell, brass, Cambodia, prewar; unmarked. Apsaras are supernatural beautiful, young women; wives to the court servants of the god Indra, they dance to the music made by their husbands; they are prominently portrayed in the Angkorian temples at Angkor Wat.

Dimensions: 8-3/4"H x 3-1/4"W x 1-3/4" diameter


Condition report

Patination and soiling in recessed areas, some scratching, nicks, and ares of loss to brass.
