African Fon Power Figure w/Baby

Fon Power or Fetish figure carrying a baby on his back, wood, mud, weaved basketry, glass, shells, earthenware and rope, Fon Tribe, Africa, ca. probably twentieth century. The organic materials composed together symbolize the binding of power and simultaneously the binding of enemies. Male, in comparison to female, figures shown carrying babies are rare.

Dimensions: 12.5"H

Shows signs of traditional use.
